Some of the legendary Easter Eggs created by the genius Russian jeweller Carl Fabergé for the Russian Royal Family returned to their motherland in 2013 to the great joy of locals and foreign guests who now can see the impressive collection of precious items created in the House of Fabergé in the lavish interiours of recently restored Shuvalov Palace in St. Petersburg. At the core of the museum is the collection of Malcolm Forbes bought in full in 2004 by Victor Vekselberg. The museum has become one of the top attractions of Russia in a record time. Apart from 9 Imperial Easter Eggs the collection boasts intricate snuffboxes, tableware, tea sets, covers for Russian icons and other accessories created with the use of precious and semi-precious stones in the House of Fabergé by Carl Fabergé himself and his talented masters. The collection currently exhibits more than 4000 items and it is constantly growing.
The museum also holds marvellous temporary exhibitions very popular among locals and tourists therefore large queues in front of the main entrance are common on the days of such exhibitions.
