See the places in Moscow, associated with Leo Tolstoy and his family, visit Tolstoy's cozy wooden house in charming Khamovniki District and enjoy a short walk in the area
Leo Tolstoy in Moscow
Duration 4 hours (including short coffee break)
On this tour you will take a fascinating ride back in time and see the houses where Tolstoy lived in Moscow (some of them are actually wooden but one will never guess it as they are covered with thick layers of stucco moulding), the Polivanov Private School attended by his children, the building of the literary museum devoted to Tolstoy, the monument to the writer and other spots in the city associated with him and the characters of his novels.
You will visit the charming wooden mansion of Tolstoy in Khamovniki surrounded by an old garden and carved timber fence where it seems that the time has stopped. Inside you will see many interesting details from the everyday life of the writer and his family, such as the bike that Tolstoy learnt to ride when he was almost 70 or an exquisite pair of shoes that he carved for his friend.
After the visit, you will take a short walk in the district and see the beautiful 17th century Church of St. Nicholas, an example of Moscow architectural style and the main church of the parish that was functioning even during the Soviet Era.
